A Message from Russ Cusack

I know we’re still a few months away from the conference, but as this year’s conference chair I wanted to share a few initial thoughts. This summer’s event in Atlanta is sizing up to be even bigger and better than last year’s. It’ll be a great opportunity to make some positive waves in our industry.

Our overall goal is to work on improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities. And with the power-packed lineup of keynote presenters, compelling breakout sessions, and Aware training opportunities, I have no doubt that we’ll accomplish that goal.

We’re bringing two of the nation’s leading voices in disability advocacy to the main stage – Senator Tom Harkin, co-author of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Randy Lewis, who pioneered a highly successful disability employment program at Walgreens that influenced many of the country’s leading companies.

Stellar schedule

We’ve also put together a stellar schedule of breakout sessions where some of your esteemed colleagues in the vocational rehabilitation industry will discuss best practices. And technical experts will share tips and tricks that you can use to be more efficient on the job.

For those who want to go deep on optimizing the Aware software, I highly recommend attendance at the pre-conference training on July 23 and 24. Check out this video for a preview into those training sessions.

Above all, this conference will be a tremendous opportunity to learn from each other and to share knowledge and ideas about how we can improve work opportunities for people with disabilities.

We’re in this line of work because of our passion for public service. I’m looking forward to plugging into that energy in Atlanta!
