Butch McMillan was executive director at the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) for 18 years before retiring in 2015. At MDRS, he successfully gained legislative support to expand services that promoted employment and independence for people with disabilities.
McMillan’s career began as a member of the House of Representatives from 1980 to 1992. He’s also served as president of both the National Rehabilitation Association and the Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation (CSAVR).
He is a graduate of Mississippi State University and a Certified Public Accountant. He is an active member of many statewide organizations and councils, including the State Workforce Investment Board and the Disability Resource Commission. He served as the state employee representative on the Public Employment Retirement System Board, most notably as chairperson his final year.
